Moses said, “Man does not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceeds out of the mouth of God. Jesus said, “I am the bread of life. He who comes to Me shall never hunger, and he who believes in Me shall never thirst ” (John 6:35). But exactly what did He mean? Bread is a type of food, and food is necessary to sustain life. Jesus is both making a claim to His deity, and He is saying that He is the bread which gives life, sustains it, and completely satisfies one’s every desire.

This verse of Scripture should be a reminder that we should seek Him first. The faith of the believer is established in grace, requiring no legalistic completion. Jesus came into the world; to give eternal life to everyone who believes that He is who He says He is–the Son of God.
