“Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise, you have no reward from your Father in heaven. When you do a charitable deed, do not let your left hand know what your right hand is doing, that your charitable deed may be in secret; and your Father who sees in secret will Himself reward you openly” (Matthew 6:1, 3-4).
Make Someone Happy
We know love pleases God. In John 13:34, Jesus said. “By this, all will know that you are My disciples if you have love for one another.” It is heartbreaking to see so many people in need today. On almost every corner there is someone panhandling for food. Just the other day I passed through an area of the city where, in one block, five families, all with small children, had been evicted. But for the grace of God, the same thing, or something worse could happen to you or me.
Thank God for people who are willing to help others out of pure love, for love pleases God. Now is the perfect time to sow into the kingdom of God by helping someone in need. However, your reason and purpose for your charitable deed are important to God. You see, there are people who do charitable deeds so others can see them. Some do charitable deeds for personal or political gain.
God Will Supply Your Needs
You might have a need in your life. Be encouraged; God knows what you need. Your labor of love pleases God. He knows that you also have needs. If you continue to trust God, the Bible says, “God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus (Philippians 4:19).
God uses people to help people. When you help someone else, God will send someone to help you. He says, “Give, and it shall be given unto you; good measure, pressed down, and shaken together, and running over, shall men give into your bosom” (Luke 6:38).
Take heed that you do not do your charitable deeds before men, to be seen by them. Otherwise, you have no reward from your Father in heaven. Just remember, your labor of love pleases God, provided it comes from your heart.
Father God, I pray that today you will lead me to someone who needs my help. I pray that you will abundantly supply my own needs so that I may always have enough to help someone else. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
