Learn How to Increase Your Faith

Did you know you can increase your faith by changing the way you speak? That’s because faith believes, and believing faith speaks. Everyone believes in something, but it is important that you know what you believe. If all you do is trust in the opinions of others, you will ultimately lose your own identity. Malcolm X said, “A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything.”

The Bible describes faith as the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen (Hebrews 11:1). When we develop confidence in God it causes our faith to increase. That confidence assures us that God is working the things we hope for into physical existence. Therefore, when we have faith in God we develop faith like God.

What is Faith?

The word “faith” originates from the Greek noun “Pistis.” Faith is an action word. The verb, “Pistueo” means having complete trust or confidence in someone or something; a strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof.

The Bible tells us to walk by faith. You can learn to increase your faith by walking by faith. However, before you can walk by faith you must first possess faith. So, what is faith? The Bible says faith is the substance of things hoped for; the evidence of things not seen. Another description of faith is that it is the tangible quintessence that the things we hope for become so concrete, that what we hope for becomes a definitive reality of those things that are not yet visible. Faith is the bridge that links us to the spiritual realm and makes God a touchable reality in our minds.

Increased Confidence

The fundamentals of faith create endless possibilities. To increase your faith, try envisioning faith as a seed. For example, tomato seeds produce tomatoes. You don’t have to understand how the seed produces the plant to get tomatoes. God has placed the substance needed to produce a tomato within the tomato seed. Likewise, the things you hope for are in the seed of your faith.

There are two levels of faith. there is little faith and great faith. The level of confidence you have in God will determine your personal level of faith. Jesus said, “According to your faith let it be to you.” The way to increase your faith is by building confidence in God. To build this confidence, you must learn to trust God.

When you put your trust in God, it guarantees you that God’s promises and Biblical revelations are true. Nevertheless, you cannot detect these revelations and promises with your physical senses. However, by trusting God, you will have the certitude that your expectations will come to pass. Your confidence in God becomes so tangible that you actually believe you possess those things that are in the spiritual realm.

Consider Who You Are

Amid the hullabaloo of today’s fast-moving world, holding on to confidence can be challenging. When frustrated by a situation perceived to be unchangeable, we sometimes say, “It is what it is” and give in to the situation. But you do not have to accept defeat by settling for less. By faith, you can change what is into what you want it to be. This is what God did when He created the universe.

The Scriptures say God created us in His likeness and image (Genesis 1:26). That means we are like Him. Therefore, we have the same kind of faith that God has. “And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believed and therefore I spoke,’ we also believe and therefore speak” (2 Corinthians 4:13).

Consider Who God Is

Faith is the only way to know God. If you want to increase your faith, you must know what you believe about who God is. Christianity worships YAHWEH, the God of the Bible. He is not like the gods of the world’s religions. They make their gods from silver and gold with their own hands. However, The God of the Bible is alive.

No one can explain God’s existence. The only way to know God is by faith. In other words, you must believe He exists. To witness God’s majesty and power, all you have to do is look at the sky on a clear night. The heavens declare the awesome truth of who God is. The night sky gives you an astounding view of His majesty that is unimaginable. God has many characteristics. They are too numerous to mention here. But understanding these five characteristics of God will help you grow your faith. They are:

When you think of a spirit, a ghost probably comes to mind. However, ghosts are supernatural beings that do not have bodies. God is not a spirit; God is Spirit. He is the Spirit of spirits. He is the Supreme supernatural being, the Creator of spirits. Although God is a living spirit, no one has ever seen God. No one has seen the wind either, but we can feel it. We cannot see the oxygen we breathe, but without it, we would all die. The scriptures reveal that God is our invisible, eternal, and immortal King. Although no one has ever seen the invisible God, we have seen visible manifestations of Him in His Son, Jesus, who fully demonstrates the character of God (Colossians 1:15).

Love is one of God’s greatest attributes, for God is love. God does not force Himself on anyone. God is kind to everyone, even to those who do not love Him. Jesus is the express image of God (Colossians 1:15). Through Jesus, we see the true character of God. Jesus did not exalt Himself above others. He did not covet the possessions of others. He was content to live a humble life without complaining. Jesus has shown us that God is not demanding and He always looks out for the best interest of others.

A simple way to define wisdom is that it is the ability to use the acquired knowledge. Wisdom and knowledge go hand-in-hand. In the Bible, wisdom and knowledge are often mentioned together (Jeremiah 10:12Romans 11:33Colossians 2:3).

The wisdom of God devised a foolproof plan whereby He would redeem His beloved man from death. The wisdom of God recognized the futility of our works. No amount of our goodness, works, morality, or religious worship can gain acceptance with God. It is only through God’s Son that we have access to God, whereby we are accepted by God.

One of the fundamental attributes of God is His mercy. Because God is merciful toward us, He desires that we be with Him forever. God’s love and His mercy are inseparable. God’s mercy allowed His Son to be condemned in our place at the cross. Thus, Jesus became the sacrificial lamb for our sins. God’s mercy declares His compassion for mankind. Justice has been satisfied at the cross, therefore God is just in showing mercy to everyone who has chosen to follow Christ.

By faith, you can believe that everything God has promised will come to pass because God is faithful. His faithfulness is a guarantee that He cannot lie, and what He has said in the Bible about Himself is true. Our hope of obtaining eternal life is built on His faithfulness.

Don’t Worry

When You Worry You Don’t Have Hope

When you worry, it is an indication that you exercise little faith. In learning how to increase your faith you must first learn to stop worrying. Today, people worry about everything. But the Bible tells us not to worry. “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for today is its own trouble” (Matthew 6:34).

Learn how to increase your faith through optimistic speaking. Your level of faith speaks in your actions. So rather than worry about tomorrow, think of how you overcame yesterday. People who worry live their lives worrying about tomorrow. But you must believe that God is faithful to supply your needs today. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow.

When You Have Hope You Don’t Worry

No matter how the circumstances look, great faith trusts that God is working on your behalf. When you have great faith you can fight the good fight of faith. You believe God you accept His word as the absolute truth.

This is what a Roman officer did when he sought help for his son. When Jesus arrived in Capernaum, a Roman army captain came and pled with him to come to his home and heal his servant boy who was in bed paralyzed and racked with pain.

Jesus answered, “I will come and heal him.” But the officer said, “Sir, I am not worthy to have you in my home, and it isn’t necessary for you to come. If you will only stand here and say, ‘Be healed,’ my servant will get well! I know, because I am under the authority of my superior officers and I have authority over my soldiers, and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my slave boy, ‘Do this or that,’ and he does it. And I know you have authority to tell his sickness to go—and it will go!” Jesus was amazed!

Then, turning to the crowd he said, “I haven’t seen faith like this in all the land of Israel! (Matthew 8:5-10 TLB).

Create Your World

By believing God over our circumstances, we are able to create our own environment, just as God created the universe. To frame your world, you must be confident that the unseen world is real. You must also believe that the things you create in the spiritual realm will manifest as reality.

The perfect way to establish confidence in God is by reading the Bible. You don’t establish faith just by saying, “I believe.” We are told in Romans 10:17 that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. Reading the Bible is the best and only way to get acquainted with God.

To establish mountain-moving faith, we must hear the Word of God with our hearts. Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Not only are the words we hear deposited in our hearts, but the words we speak also go into our hearts by way of our ears. Your faith speaks. If your words are filled with doubt, you unknowingly create a world of doubt. Words that are energized with faith create mountain-moving faith.

If you want to learn how to increase your faith, Believing Faith Blog is for you. Remember, believing faith speaks, and you have the same spirit of faith as God. For God said, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak.
