Why many are sick and do not experience divine healing according to the Bible.
The curse of the law brings sickness and disease. According to Deuteronomy chapter 28 of the Christian Bible, sickness and disease are consequences of disobeying God’s law. However, the Bible also says Christ fulfilled the law and reversed the curse. God wiped out the handwriting of requirements that was against us, having nailed it to the cross (Colossians 2:14). Jesus delivered us from sickness and disease at the cross.
“He was wounded for our transgression, bruised for our iniquities, the chastisement for our peace was upon Him, and by His stripes, we are healed” Isaiah 53:5.
If the Bible says we are healed, why do we still suffer sickness and disease?
I am among the many Christians who believe in ‘divine’ or ‘supernatural healing.’ But I have often wondered why so many Christians are not healed. So, I began researching the Bible for answers, and I discovered some interesting facts about sickness, disease, and healing, and I would like to share them with you.
I started my research in 1 Corinthians chapter 10, and the following verses of scripture jumped out at me:
“No temptation [regardless of its source] has overtaken or enticed you that is not common to human experience [nor is any temptation unusual or beyond human resistance], but God is faithful [to His word—He is compassionate and trustworthy], and He will not let you be tempted beyond your ability [to resist], but along with the temptation, He [has in the past and is now and] will [always] provide the way out as well, so that you will be able to endure it [without yielding, and will overcome temptation with joy].”
Therefore, my beloved, run [keep far, far away] from [any sort of] idolatry [and that includes loving anything more than God, or participating in anything that leads to sin and enslaves the soul]. I am speaking as to wise and sensible people; judge [carefully and thoughtfully consider] for yourselves what I say. Is the cup of blessing which we bless [at the Lord’s Supper] not a sharing in the blood of Christ? [Indeed it is.] Is the bread which we break not a sharing in the body of Christ? [Indeed it is.]” (1 Corinthians 10:13-16 AMP).
The Origin of Sickness and Disease

Here is what stood out for me: “…with the temptation, He will provide the way out”… and, “Is the cup of blessing which we bless [at the Lord’s Supper] not a sharing in the blood of Christ? Is the bread which we break not a sharing in the body of Christ?”
Proverbs 25:2 says. “It is the glory of God to conceal a matter, but the glory of kings is to search out a matter.” What is God hiding in these verses of scripture? I noted that the first mention of the word “temptation” in the Bible is in the Book of Genesis. So I turned to Genesis chapter 3, hoping to connect the dots.
When God created the first man, He gave him only one commandment: “Of every tree of the garden you may freely eat but, of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day you eat of it you shall surely die” (Genesis 2:16-17).
God had not created Eve when He gave Adam this commandment. Knowing this, Satan, disguised himself in the form of a serpent and deceived Eve by lying to her.
“Really?” he asked. “None of the fruit in the garden? God says you mustn’t eat any of it?”
“Of course, we may eat it,” the woman told him. “It’s only the fruit from the tree at the center of the garden that we are not to eat. God says we mustn’t eat it or even touch it, or we will die.”
“That’s a lie!” the serpent hissed. “You’ll not die! God knows very well the instant you eat it you will become like him, for your eyes will be opened—you will be able to distinguish good from evil!” (Genesis 3:1-5 TLB).
The Curse

Eve ate the forbidden fruit and gave some to Adam, and he also ate. Thus, sin entered the world through one man’s disobedience (Romans 5:12). Sickness and disease are the consequence of sin; sin is the repercussion of disobedience.
The Bible says, “Cursed is everyone who does not continue to do everything written in the Book of the Law.” The curse of the law is the penalty for not keeping God’s law. Sickness and disease are among the many curses of the law that will overtake you for disobeying God’s commandments. Everyone who relies on keeping the law to be justified is under the curse of the law. No one is justified before God by the law, for the righteous will live by faith (Galatians 3:10-13).
“He will send disease among you until you are destroyed from the face of the land you are about to enter and possess. He will send tuberculosis, fever, infections, plague, and war. All these devastations shall pursue you until you perish. He will send upon you, Egyptian boils, tumors, scurvy, and itch, for none of which will there be a remedy. The Lord will cover you with boils from head to foot.” Deuteronomy 28:21-22, 27, 35 TLB
Redeemed From the Curse

The uncompromising demands of the law were too strict for any human to meet. Therefore, when the fullness of the time had come, God sent His Son, born of a woman, born under the law, to redeem us from the curse of the law (Galatians 4:4). Jesus paid the penalty of the curse for us in His body. Jesus broke the curse that we might be healed. He became sin literally on our behalf. Jesus has forever reversed the curse. He bore our pain and sickness so we could live an abundant life without them. If God said He healed us, why are we still sick?
That brings me back to 1 Corinthians chapter 10, where, God, speaking through the Apostle Paul, said, “…but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it.” However, just three verses later, verse 16 says, “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not the communion of the blood of Christ? The bread which we break, is it not the communion of the body of Christ?” Could communion be the way to escape or reverse sickness and disease?
What is Communion?

Communion, also known as “The Lord’s Supper,” is a sacred time of fellowship with God when believers in Christ come together to commemorate Jesus’ sacrifice on the cross. It is the partaking of bread and wine accompanied by prayer and singing.
On the night He was betrayed, Jesus took bread; and when He had given thanks, He broke it and said, “Take, eat; this is My body, broken for you; do this in remembrance of Me.” In the same manner, He also took the cup after supper, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in My blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of Me” (1 Corinthians 11:23-25).
However, there is a warning to anyone who eats the bread or drinks the cup of the Lord in a way that is unworthy of the Lord will be guilty of profaning and sinning against the body and blood of the Lord. Therefore, a person must carefully and prayerfully examine his or herself and their relationship to Christ before eating the bread and drinking from the cup.
We should carefully and prayerfully examine ourselves and our relationship with Christ before partaking in communion. Anyone who eats and drinks without solemn reverence and heartfelt gratitude for the sacrifice of Christ eats and drinks a judgment on himself. According to scripture, the reason many believers are sick and some fall asleep (die), is that believers do not properly discern the body and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. (1 Corinthians 11:27-30 AMP).
The Communion Elements
The church places a lot of emphasis on the blood of Jesus, while scarcely mentioning the scourging He endured the night before He was crucified. Why did God allow Jesus’ captors to scourge Him before He was crucified? Why didn’t God send Him straight to the cross? Every believer knows that Jesus’ blood had to be shed for the forgiveness of our sins. But little is said about the scourging He underwent for our healing.
In John chapter 6, Jesus said to His disciples, “I am the living bread which came down from heaven. If anyone eats of this bread, he will live forever; and the bread that I shall give is My flesh, which I shall give for the life of the world. Most assuredly, I say to you, unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink His blood, you have no life in you.
Jesus said, “The thief does not come except to steal, and to kill, and to destroy. I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly” (John 10:10). Leviticus 17:11 says life is in the blood. However, in John 6:51, Jesus said He gives His flesh for the life of the world. Why did Jesus say He will give His flesh for the life of the world? I believe Jesus was telling us of His scourging beforehand. He wanted us to know that His blood would be spilled to forgive our sins and His flesh was going to be torn for the healing of our bodies.
When we celebrate communion, we should celebrate it as the Israelites celebrated Passover. The Israelites celebrated in remembrance of their deliverance from Egyptian bondage. But many modern-day Christians celebrate communion as the Christians did at Corinth. The Corinthians partook in communion as a kind of historical commemoration of the death of Christ. They did not discern the Lord’s body and blood as a sacrificial offering for sin.
Restore Your Health by Eating
Satan is a master at perverting things, including the word of God. It is no small thing that the devil does not want us to know the power that is contained in a small piece of bread and a cup of wine. Some churches partake of communion once yearly, others, once a month. Still, others, celebrate the event weekly. Jesus said as often as you partake of communion, you call to mind His suffering and death.
True to His word, God used the very thing that tempted the first couple to sin, and with it, He made the way of escape. It was eating that got us in trouble in the first place. The first man forfeited his health by eating something he should not have eaten. Friends, you don’t have to helplessly endure sickness and disease. Today, you can be restored to health by eating. Begin today partaking of communion in your home. You can either do it alone or with your family. Remember, by partaking in the body of Christ, which is the bread, you experience bodily healing. For by His stripes (His scourging), you are healed. By partaking of the blood of Christ, you experience forgiveness of sins, which leads to eternal salvation.

Let us give all the glory to God my sister. God is our loving Father. He sent His son to trade places with us. The devil condemned us with sickness and disease for Adam’s disobedience. That condemnation fell upon us as his descendants. But praise God there is now therefore no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. The curse has been reversed. Jesus loves you, sister. By His stripes, you are healed. Believe it and receive it, in Jesus’ name.
