“Therefore, do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things” (Matthew 6:31-32).
Do not worry… Three words that are so easy to utter, yet so very hard to do. The devil would like to make “worry” the subject of the day. Prices are going up, wages are going down, and with so much going on in life, you might say, “How can I not worry?”
Our Lord Jesus Christ assures us that our Heavenly Father knows what we need. The reason Jesus can say, “do not worry” is because He has walked in our shoes. When Jesus walked the earth He was homeless, yet He never worried, because God provided His every need. You are the righteousness of God and that means that you are blessed.
For those blessed by Him shall inherit the earth… The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; for the Lord upholds him with His hand. I have been young, and now am old; yet I have not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his descendants begging bread.Psalm 37:22-25
Whenever you are tempted to worry remind yourself that you are righteous by your faith in Jesus Christ and God upholds the righteous with His hand. You are not, nor will you ever be forsaken.
So whatever your lack is today, be encouraged to know that God already knows and He’s got your back. And it’s all because He loves you, and, He knows you by name. So today, do not worry! Trust God, and everything will be alright.
