Be Thankful

be thankful for thanksgiving

Let us be thankful for Thanksgiving Day. It is a family tradition in America and Canada. Once a year in November, we celebrate the day with friends and family. It is truly a day to be thankful. Just the other day, I heard someone say, “I don’t have anything to be thankful for. I lost my job, my car is broke, my dog died, and my best friend won’t answer my phone calls. What is there to be grateful for?” Many people are bitter about life. They feel that they have nothing to be grateful for. But if you woke up this morning, you have a reason to be thankful.

Thankfulness is a State of Mind

Thankfulness is a perplexing state of mind. The Bible tells us to be thankful to God for everything (Ephesians 5:20). It is easy to be grateful when life is good and you have everything you want. But when your life is full of chaos and disappointment, it is difficult to have a grateful attitude. Although it is difficult, it is not impossible to change your ungrateful attitude into one of thanksgiving.

You can uplift your spirit and create an attitude of thankfulness by thinking of someone else rather than focusing on yourself. I am sure you have heard of a man in the Bible named Job. This man, Job, was very prosperous. He had everything that anyone could desire. He had a big family, lots of land, possessions, and servants. In one day Job lost all of his possessions and he was afflicted with painful sores all over his body. No one knows how long Job suffered. But we know that the circumstances of his life turned around when he prayed for his friends.

Let us be thankful for Thanksgiving Day. And not only for the food, fellowship, and excitement of the day. but for the gift of life, health, and the gift of love. We are only capable of love because God loved us first.

Our Thanksgiving Prayer for You and Your Family

Heavenly Father, we thank You for this, and every Thanksgiving Day. We thank You for our health and strength, and for allowing us to spend this day with those dearest to us. May the light of Your love enlighten our hearts, so that we may love others as You have loved us. Fill us with the knowledge of Your will. Give us wisdom and spiritual understanding. Enable us to rise above the negative circumstances of life. We ask that You keep us safe from bodily harm as we return to our homes. Let Your love rest, rule, and abide in our hearts forever. Amen.

HAPPY THANKSGIVING
