Learn how to increase your faith today. Faith believes and believing faith speaks. That’s why you must know what you believe because if all we do is trust in the opinions of others, we will ultimately lose our own identity. Everyone believes in something. Malcolm X said, “A man who stands for nothing will fall for anything.”
Faith is having confidence in the things in which you hope and developing confidence in God will cause your faith to increase. The Bible tells us to walk by faith. However, before you can walk by faith you must possess it. So, what is faith? Does one have faith simply because he or she believes?
What is Faith?
Faith is about believing, but it is a little more than just believing. Learn how to implement awesome confidence and increase your faith through optimistic speaking. Your faith is the tangible quintessence that the things we hope for become so concrete that what becomes a definitive reality of those things that are not yet visible. Faith is the bridge that links you to the spiritual realm and makes God a touchable reality in your mind.
When you know what you believe about God, you know that God is working your hope into physical existence. You understand that your faith is the bridge that links you to the spiritual realm and makes God a touchable reality.
The word “faith” originates from the Greek noun “Pistis.” Faith is an action word. The verb, “Pistueo” means having complete trust or confidence in someone or something; a strong belief in the doctrines of a religion, based on spiritual conviction rather than proof. Therefore, when you believe in God, your faith speaks.
The Bible teaches that faith is having confidence in the things we hope for. Even though we cannot see the things hoped for with our physical eyes, we prove our trust by believing that God is working our hope into physical existence.
The fundamentals of faith create endless possibilities. To learn how to increase your faith, try looking at faith as though it were a seed. For example, tomato seeds produce tomatoes. You don’t have to understand how the seed produces the plant to get tomatoes. God has placed the substance needed to produce a tomato within the tomato seed. Likewise, the things you hope for are in the seed of your faith.
There are two levels of faith:
- little faith
- great faith
The level of confidence you have in God will determine your personal level of faith. Increase your faith by building confidence. To build confidence, you must fearlessly trust God. Optimism does not focus on the circumstances, and hope has no regard for the consequences of its actions.
When you trust God, it guarantees you that God’s promises and Biblical revelations are true. Nevertheless, you cannot detect these revelations and promises with your physical senses. However, by trusting God, you will have the certitude that your expectations will come to pass. Faith is the tangible quintessence that the things you hope for become so concrete that even belief itself becomes a definitive reality of those things that are not yet visible. Your confidence in God becomes so tangible that you actually believe you possess those things in the spiritual realm.
Consider Who You Are
Amid the hullabaloo of today’s fast-moving world, holding on to confidence can be challenging. When frustrated by a situation perceived to be unchangeable, we sometimes give in to the situation and say, “It is what it is.” But is it really what it is? Don’t accept defeat and settle for less. By faith, you can change what is into what you want it to be. This is what God did when He created the universe.
The Scriptures say God created us in His likeness and image (Genesis 1:26). That means we are like Him. Therefore, we have the same kind of faith that God has.
“And since we have the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, ‘I believed and therefore I spoke,’ we also believe and therefore speak.”2 Corinthians 4:13
God reveals Himself to us through His written word–the Bible. The Bible is full of God’s promises. However, we cannot detect these revelations and promises with our physical senses. Nevertheless, by trusting God, we have the certitude that our expectations will happen.
Consider Who God Is
Faith is the only way to know God. If you want to increase your faith, you must know what you believe about who God is. It matters that the God you believe in is alive. Do you believe in Christianity’s God? Is your God alive? Christianity worships the God of the Bible. He is not like the gods of the world’s religions. They make their gods from silver and gold with their own hands. However, The God of the Bible is alive.
No one can explain God’s existence. The only way we can know God is by faith, that is, you must first believe He exists. To witness God’s majesty and power, all you have to do is look at the sky on a clear night. The universe gives you an astounding view of God that is unimaginable. God has many characteristics. They are too numerous to mention here. Understanding these five characteristics of God will help you grow your faith. They are:
When we think of a spirit, we think of a ghost. However, ghosts are supernatural beings that do not have a body. God is not a spirit; God is Spirit. He is the Spirit of spirits – the Supreme supernatural being – the Creator of spirits. Although God is a living spirit, no one has ever seen God. No one has seen the wind either, but we can feel it. We cannot see the oxygen we breathe, but without it, we would all die. The scriptures reveal that God is our invisible, eternal, and immortal King. Although no one has ever seen the invisible God, we have seen visible manifestations of Him in His Son, Jesus, who fully demonstrates the character of God (Colossians 1:15).
Love is one of God’s greatest attributes, for God is love. God does not force Himself on anyone. God is kind to everyone, even those who do not love Him. Jesus is the express image of God (Colossians 1:15). Through Jesus, we see the true character of God. Jesus did not exalt Himself above others. He did not covet the possessions of others. He was content to live a humble life without complaining. Jesus has shown us that God is not demanding and He always looks out for the best interest of others.
A simple way to define wisdom is that it is the ability to use the acquired knowledge. Wisdom and knowledge go hand-in-hand. In the Bible, wisdom and knowledge are often mentioned together (Jeremiah 10:12; Romans 11:33; Colossians 2:3).
The wisdom of God devised a foolproof plan whereby He would redeem His beloved man from death. The wisdom of God recognized the futility of our works. No amount of our goodness, works, morality, or religious worship can gain acceptance with God. It is only through God’s Son that we have access and acceptance to God.
One of the fundamental attributes of God is His mercy. Because God is merciful toward us, He desires that we be with Him forever. God’s love and His mercy are inseparable. God’s mercy allowed His Son to be condemned in our place at the cross. Thus, Jesus became the sacrificial lamb for our sins. God’s mercy declares His compassion for mankind. Justice has been satisfied at the cross, therefore God can justifiably show mercy to everyone who has chosen to follow Christ.
By faith, you can believe that everything God has promised will come to pass; all because God is faithful. His faithfulness is a guarantee that He cannot lie, and what He has said in the Bible about Himself is true. Our hope of obtaining eternal life is built on His faithfulness.
When You Worry You Don’t Have Hope
When you worry, it is an indication that you exercise little faith. In learning how to increase your faith you must first learn to stop worrying. Today, people worry about everything. But the Bible tells us not to worry.
…do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about its own things. Sufficient for today is its own trouble.Matthew 6:34
Learn how to increase your faith through speaking optimism. Your level of faith speaks in your actions. So rather than worry about tomorrow, think of how you overcame yesterday. People who worry live their lives thinking about tomorrow. But you must believe that God is faithful to supply your needs today. Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow.
When You Have Hope You Don’t Worry
No matter how the circumstances look, great faith trusts that God is working on your behalf. When you have great faith you can fight the good fight of faith simply because you believe what God says and accept it is the absolute truth. When Jesus arrived in Capernaum, a Roman army captain came and pled with him to come to his home and heal his servant boy who was in bed paralyzed and racked with pain.
Jesus answered, “I will come and heal him.” But the officer said, “Sir, I am not worthy to have you in my home, and it isn’t necessary for you to come. If you will only stand here and say, ‘Be healed,’ my servant will get well! I know, because I am under the authority of my superior officers and I have authority over my soldiers, and I say to one, ‘Go,’ and he goes, and to another, ‘Come,’ and he comes, and to my slave boy, ‘Do this or that,’ and he does it. And I know you have authority to tell his sickness to go—and it will go!” Jesus was amazed!
Then, turning to the crowd he said, “I haven’t seen faith like this in all the land of Israel! (Matthew 8:5-10 TLB).
Create Your World
By believing God over your circumstances, you create your own individual environment, just as God created the universe. To frame your world, you must:
- Be confident that the unseen world is real.
- Believe that the things you create in the spiritual realm will manifest as reality.
The perfect way to establish confidence is by reading the Bible. You don’t establish faith just by saying, “I believe.” We are told in Romans 10:17 that faith comes by hearing the Word of God. So, how do you hear the Word of God when you read the Bible? My friend, it is easier than you think. Reading the Bible is the best way to get acquainted with God’s Word.
If you want to establish mountain-moving faith, you must hear the Word of God in your heart. Death and life are in the power of the tongue (Proverbs 18:21). Not only are the words you hear deposited in your heart, but the words you speak will go into your heart by way of your ears as well. Your faith speaks. If your words are filled with doubt, you unknowingly create a world of doubt; words energized with faith create mountain-moving faith.
If you want to learn how to increase your faith, Believing Faith Blog is for you. Remember, believing faith speaks, and you have the same spirit of faith as God. For God said, “I believed and therefore I spoke,” we also believe and therefore speak.
